napowrimo – mdaaswi shi naawin (fifteen)

the bell rang echoing in great stone halls

passing hands spun golden wheels

om mani padme hum

a chorus of voices raise to the beams above

and i remember this as i reach

into memories coursing throughout my blood

the day my head was shaved

i remember

the day my voice released ancient mantras

i remember

om mani padme hum

loosens consciousness

leads to clear waters

makes silence comfortable

being solitary becomes a place of growth

om mani padme hum

om mani padme hum

om mani padme hum

reminds me of anishnaabeg namewin prayer

naadmooshin weweni ji-mino-gnawaabmag nwii-ji-bimaadis miinwa weweni ji-gnoonag

help me to look upon everyone in a good way and to talk to everyone in a good way

naadmooshin ji-mshkoogaabwi-yaan miinwa ji-zoongde’eh-yaan

help me to stand strong and to have a strong heart

as feet grow roots into this earth i wiggle toes grasping for what is real

and this is what it reveals to me
